Is anyone else planning for Christmas already?

DSC_0314This beautiful wall hanging is called ‘Baubles’ and we are showing you how to make it in our workshop on the 24th October.  The cost of the class is £48 not including materials, so you will have to pop in beforehand or choose some fabrics from your stash!

The class runs from 10am-4pm why not treat yourself?

Embroider as much as you like

I’m really sorry about the glare, but I couldn’t get a great photo, the packaging was very shiny.

These DMC kits have beautiful printed fabrics and the usual high quality DMC thread inside and the idea is that you stitch as much or as little as you like to embellish the picture.

There are a few different designs all featuring animals or birds and the kit costs £22.90/

Weaving news

If you have been following us on Facebook, you will have seen some of Clare’s weaving posts.  When I meet up with her at the shop last week, she told me she had been using Camel yarn to make her scarves!!!

Well I have to admit I wasn’t that keen on the thought of camel hair around my neck, but when I felt the yarn it was lovely, not what I expected at all.  Clare is using the Katia camel sock wool, which is £9.95 for 100g (400m of wool per ball).  It is so soft but also hard wearing.  The yarn is made of 55% wool, 25% nylon and 20% camel and comes in a range of browns, blues and greys mostly, which make it fantastic for mens socks.  You will easily get two socks out of one ball of wool.

Sorry for the glare on the photo!

Luna Lapin

Isn’t this adorable?

We have received our delivery of the Luna Lapin book.  This book gives extensive instructions on how to make Luna the rabbit and a full wardrobe of clothes and accessories.  I can’t even begin to tell you how gorgeous this book is.  Luna has a little coat with tiny buttons and even patchwork scarf and tiny boots and satchel!

The book is priced £15.99, but it is such good value as it includes 20 garment and accessory patterns.  Sarah Peel the designer has such imagination.  I just had to include this photo of Luna working at her sewing machine!

Bits and bobs….

I had a drive down to the shop last week as a treat before the summer holidays start and took some pictures of all the colourful bits and bobs there are for sale!

Silk ribbon and DMC cotton which is great for lacemaking and also needle lace and stumpwork.

I was also lucky enough to meet Sue who often talks to us on our facebook page and see the AMAZING quilt which she has been working on.DSC_0293The quilt is the ‘Foxley village’ pattern from Homespun magazine.  It has taken Sue around a year to complete which I think is amazing when you see the detail in the blocks.DSC_0296

Sue has used blanket stitch on each of those little birds, just look at the work she has put in!DSC_0297And even the sign for the sewing classes has been intricately stitched.DSC_0298And all the quilting which you can see on the photos has been done by hand.dsc_0295.jpgIt really is divine isn’t it?

We have some beautiful new yarn in by Katia.  The range is called Concept and is a Cotton Cashmere blend.  The balls of yarn cost £4.95 and are delightful to work with, just perfect for baby clothes.

Sale still on

We still have 40% some of our wool.  This is only certain lines, not our whole stock but still a fantastic chance to get hold of some beautiful yarn.

We have also had a bit of a shake up in the yarn department with the wool organised in type rather than colour.  We stock silk, cashmere, alpaca and llama blend, cotton/yak blend and cotton yarns

Don’t they make a beautiful technicolour dream?

Pleasant Pheasant

When I was planning to do the Goldwork Pheasant from issue 93 of Inspirations magazine (this idea never even got off the ground!!!), I realised that there is this beautiful pheasant fabric in stick at £11.40/metre.  It would be great in an eye spy quilt or anything kind of farming themed work!

Little Monkey!

In the White Peak Embroidery shop we haves some beautiful fabrics including these with little monkeys.

Many of the fabrics including ‘Monkeys in the Forest’ are by Jane Makower and are priced at £15.60/metre
